Default 65 Polara VS various others

This is about my brother's 1965 Dodge Polara, 383 2bbl automatic. Back in 1978 he was in the Air Force and home on leave. He purchased the Polara from a friend of mine because it was not running right. He did some minor work on it including a cam change and carb rejet. We went to the local cruise spot in Salem, OR known locally as "The Gut". Got involved in 3 races with others, early 70's 350 Camaro, late 60's blown 454 Chevelle and a 302 Boss Maverick. Light to light, won against the Camaro and Chevelle (driver of the Chevelle did not know how to drive his rig I guess). Would have beat the Maverick, but the guy driving it would only race one block, so right as we were about to pass the guy who would get off the line first, he would shut down. So I guess you could say we beat him too. Later I had the pleasure of driving his car from Oregon to Kansas where he was stationed. This was during the lovely 55 mph national speed limit. While traveling across Oregon on I-80N (now known as I-84) I came acrosss an early 70's big block Corvette. We were both bored and managed to get into a race. I know he was surprised to see the Big Dodge running with him all the way up to top speed. He did finally leave me behind, but not very quickly, maybe 2 mph higher top speed than the Dodge had.
