I have no idea what ratio is in mine, what I got is what I got, but it seemed to be revving pretty hard at 70mph. Yet it was also no jet up the big hills.

It's a bit of a crap shoot I suppose. 3:21 = probably better mpg. 3:55 and up = more zap but the top end starts going away if you're doing the running mile :-)
I actually almost doubled my gas mileage by going from the 2:76 to the 3:91. That's due to the 3000 stall converter and the way the whole set-up works. It needs to be a good match component wise. My brand X daily driver has a 3:78 (?) gear set but it also has overdrive. It does well on fuel even with the 3:78.
