Default 273 crank, 318 CID

I'm thinking of building a .060" over 318 with Ross flat tops, weight about 615G, with the chevy .927 pins, and Eagle rods, about 605G. Would a 273 steel crank be heavy enough for that, or would a bunch of weight need to be added to make it not even worth looking for the crank? This would be for an oval track engine, to spin 6500 or more.

Default +.030 273 Eagle H-beam

If the 615 grams includes the piston, pin and locks, then I think a 273 crank will need metal removed from the counter weights, not added. I had my latest 273 balanced on December 29, 2005. The card reads as follows:
Rod rotating 494
Rod rotating 494
Rod bearing 40
Rod bearing 40
Oil 3
Piston, pin, locks (1 set) 677 (compared to your 613)
Rings (1 set) 52
Rod reciprocating 230

Bobweight total: 2030

The pistons were Jahn's cast 273 dome pistons that gave 11.04 to 1 compression with a factory stock 3.31" 273 crank. The Eagle H-beams are similar in mass to the stock 273 rod. Here are some rod masses as they are according to my measurements.

No problem taking the weight off, just trying to find the lightest rotating assy. and the 273 steel crank should be able to take the abuse.
