Default SOHC vs DOHC ?

Allpar states that DOHC 2.0 and SOHC 2.0 share a common block but the machined surfaces may be different? Can a DOHC head be swapped a block that came with a single overhead cam? Any real performance gains? DOHC head off of a 2.4 ?

My dad is giving me his 96 stratus as a daily driver and I want to throw some money at it in the pursuit of speed ( turbo ? ) Any suggestions would be appreciated. Its a 2.0 SOHC and a 5 speed.

Does anyone know the difference in outside dimensions of the 2.4 over the 2.0 if any?

Well I dont know if the blocks are different but I do know the pistons are different. I have pistons out of a DOHC motor with a SOHC head. This raises the compression ratio about one point. I would not go the other way though. Thats all I can help you with, Neon Will
