Jerry,
If memory serves me correctly, the MP kit replaces the cone type axle bearing with a non-cone bearing (these non-cone bearings are sometimes refered to as GREEN bearings). I personally do not care for the Green bearing setup in a street car. The green bearings are not recommended if you do any type of road racing, or SOLO racing. The Green bearings do not deal with side loading as well as the cone type. Unless you are using it for Drag race purposes, I would not use them. (this is only my OPINION....I know people who have used them on street cars with no problems...I just don't like the idea of replacing the stronger cone bearings with the slightly weaker Green ones)
Just my .02

I have used the Green bearings and without problems. Theoretically they can handle less sideload than the stock bearings, but it seems that they can stille handle enough of it. Ford 9" use this kind of bearings and I have not heard about problems with them either. And if you are using rear discbrakes, you must use the green bearings. The stockers with the adjusters work well too, and if you have doubpts use them.

Personally I have used both.My opinion is that if this is a street car,use the factory setup with adjusters. The green bearings are ball bearings and don't have the capability to support side loads as well as the Mopar/Timken setup. My 11 sec. Demon has the factory setup and it works fine. The setting of the side play is no big deal,it's pretty esy to do.

if your car is a driver the adjusters are going to work fine and are easy to ajust.if your going to use a spool the green bearings are the way to go.

I just had the chunk rebuilt by my local rear end specialist. He just happens to be a mopar nut and after talking for a while he told me about his 40 years in the business and the 8 3/4 is far superior to any other rear end out there. I asked him about adjusting end play when I set up the rear end and he told me bring every thing in and he would set it up for me for $40.00. Now that include pressing off the old bearings, installing new wheel studs, (I just had the axles redrilled for the 4 1/2 bolt pattern) and installing chunk. All this because he is a mopar fiend. I couldn't even get the local machine shop to press off the old bearings and press on the new ones for that! Check with your local specialist and once the end play is set up you will never need to touch it for years to come.

Daily driver I would stay with stock adjusters. "Weekend Warrior" I would go with the green bearings. MOPAR or I walk!@#$%^&*

If you're drag racing, go with the green bearing kit. Will need them with disc brakes.
