Default HP 360 crank

What is the best crankshaft available for a 360?After finding my block cracked now ive found out my crankshaft is also cracked.Im going to get a 72 360 standard bore and have it bored .030 over to fit my Ross flat top pistons and looking to get a new crank. Is there a steel crank available for a reasonable cost? This engine will be turning 7,000 rpm in a drag car and running an alcohol carburetor.

Mancini Racing offers the Eagle forged 360 crank for $595. I can't honestly say that this is the "best" crank for your needs, but it is probably the best available for the price.

Anyone run the Eagle 3.58 steel crank and have opinions on it?

I haven't personally but have heard of and know a couple that have. They are good pieces. Are you looking at the steel or cast piece? For the most part there really isn't a bad one just not exactly right for some applications. I turned a stock cast crank 7500 rpm and never had a problem. I have been told I was lucky but I have done it with a couple. So I guess that I just have luck or had luck on my side. I can live with that. I know that they shouldn't be done that way. I am going to go to a good steel crank when I build my next motor to take some of the fright out of my hard turning. Yes it did make me nervous to do it BTW.

You can probably use a stock cast crank at 7500RPM if you arn't running a lot of HP. Certainly 500HP is not a lot.

A GOOD, internal balance is essential; even better if you can get the crank on a balance machine that can do the center counterweights as well.

There is a limit to how many 7500RPM cycles the crank will live through, and the limit is probably more than we think. My only experience with a stock, cast 360 crank was years ago, on a modified W2 headed engine, on a circle track, compression was 14 to 1. RPM was over 7500 every lap, the crank expired on lap 980. It was nasty when it expired.

Sanborn how deep did they have to dig the chunks out of the track. Just out of curiosity how did you seal up the heads to block with that comp. Did you oring and copper head gasket?
