Default Finally getting a car!

Its been too many years. 4 to be exact since I had a project. I am going to pick up a 71 Demon by the middle of next week. I have been waiting for this since I was 5.

Wow, waiting for a Demon since the age of 5? When I was 5, we had a 71 Duster, 2 years old. 3 speed manual 225 L6, had a little tornado character on the rear panel. Cool car, My dad let me shift it for him sitting between him and my mom. We drove that thing to Texas and back with No A/C in august with its black vinyl bench seats and 3 kids in the back. Rock On!

Well when I was growing up ( yeah like I ever did) in racing this was the car that I grew up around. My dad drove the car and it is the first car that I ever worked on. That Demon was my first experience with cars and has always been dear to me. So its kinda like starting life all over again. Great feeling.

I know the feeling.

My dad used to drive a 64 polara hard top, when I was really small. I always thought it was a cool ride.

I also remember riding around with my grandfather in his 68 newport 2dr. I remember the speedo being about a foot wide, and the dash all black and chrome.

That was in central canada, so both of those cars are long gone in the rust pile.

So now I run a 64 dodge post drag car, and drive my 68 newport 4dr as my daily driver. Yes, I could be described as a nostalgic person...LOL

Nice, you can get alot of information on the net about sb Chrysler strokers now. They seem to be very popular these days.

I got my dream car when I was 16, 1972 Duster /6 ...dream was a 12 second 340 Duster but I'm happy with it.

Thumbs up Welcome

to the world of Demon restoring! Mine, too was a /6 904. Man, you will fall in love with that car when you start tearing it apart and see all the strength and good engineering in the chassis. My engine, a new magnum block with Mopar R/T heads, is close to getting finished. The body is still at paint.
I ported the heads only a little, since they are really good looking from the standpoint of port and runner shape and flow. The exhaust ports have no "eyebrow" in them at the flange, runners are very direct to the valves.

Let me know if you need any help or suggestions as you get into the project. I can pass on any helpful hints if you need them.

Ron

Thanks guys, its always nice when someone else finds your project as interesting as you do. It also nice that we can all be heartfelt about the past and what we want to do and why. I should have the car on Mon. so I'll get a pic or two and post.

Congradulations, cool project. I remember when I was 16 , I had a 340 cuda, and i always cruised through town when the sun was going down in the summer time,(loved the way the sun turned the hood blood red from the drivers seat) anyway, there was a forest green demon, 71-or 2 , it was like clock work. as i crossed the bridge coming into town, that demon was sitting at the gas pumps, EVERY time!!!
I drove through one day to check the car out, it was a /6 car black int. but it had the 14" ralllyes The guy was in his mid 30`s and had a few kids hangin out in the back seat, the car was a little rough around the quarters then and door bottoms,
I saw the car a few years later in a small back water town outside Manchester, sitting in a guys yard, parts were misssing and the quarters were real bad at that point. You know after I saw what happened to that little demon, I really missed seeing it at the gas station every night on my jaunt into town,Funny how you miss things that are invoved in your life routine and you notice them only after they`re gone, Good luck hope to read your posts during your resto, Happy moparing Doug

Actually I am planning on a Alston Pro Street 4 link. Trying to keep a stock feel to the car and keep the back seat for the kids. We all gonna have some fun.
