Thumbs down

I think it looks like a Saturn L200 or whatever the larger saturn is. I do not like it one bit and thing DC screwed the pooch on this car. Glad I have my 03 Sebring which looks 50 times better than the new 07 coming out.

I don't like it either, it looks too much like that damn fugly Crossfire. I'd buy the Avenger before I'd buy that.

Thumbs up Not only

is this a damn fine looking car, but it offers a diesel engine. Once you own a diesel, nothing comes close.
It also doesn't look like all the other stuff in that segment. Distinctive grille, tail panels and window line. Nice interior features as well. Can't think of anything they did wrong, except waiting too long to build it.
By the way, notice how virtually every car manufacturer is now offering a copy of the shape of the Crossfire? Hmmmmmm.

I think it'll do ok on the market, folks on the website here almost universally hated the new Charger, which the new Sebring gets a lot of styling cues from.
Yet the new Charger is doing ok. It'll do fine as competition in the typical 4 door family car market. If I was in the market for a 4 door, I'd be definetly interested, especially in the diesel.

I actually like the Avenger because it looks a bit more like the Charger should have in the nose and back doors (I'd still prefer less "hump" where the door leads in to the quarter panel. Too bad they didn't design a 4dr hatchback version too, I'd be drooling all over myself if they did I think the has a snowball's chance of being sold here, but I've not heard too many great things about VW's small diesel engines.

Hmm, didn't realize that, Volkswagen wasn't mentioned in the article, I assumed it would be an in-house Benz engine. That would probably be a deal killer for me, though in a quick search, I didn't see any bad reports on that particular VW diesel.
However,I don't want a VW powered Sebring any more than I ever did a Mitsubishi powered K-car.
I probably wouldn't mind one with a 2.0 4-banger and a 5 speed, that's the same engine size and combination I have now in my Breeze, though a different engine family, I'm sure.
This Sebring really seems like a replacement for the old Cloud Car series of Breeze-Stratus-Cirrus. I wonder if they'll do a Chrysler version?
I hope the car is a money maker for DC.

Slaps self in head, doh! The Sebring was a Mitsubishi for so long, it's hard for me to get used to the idea it's an actual Chrysler this time around!

Was the 4 door Sebring Mitsubishi, or was it just the 2 door? I know my 03 coupe has Mitsubishi tags everywhere. And will this one be built by Mitsu or will it be built by Chrysler. To tell you the truth, my Sebring is an extremely nice car, Id have to say alot more solid feeling than my 99 Intrepid ever was.

The partnership with Mitsu is over, so it's probably safe to say this one will be built by Daimler-Chrysler.

The 4 door was Mopar. The 2-door was a rebadged Bits-O-Sushi. :-)PCRMike

It seems it would have a lot of nice features, but it's a damned ugly car. Actually between the Aura and the Sebring, I think the Aura looks better, and it's fugly, too!

The mitsubishi drivetrain was a good one thats for sure. Moms 97 Sebring has right close to 200,000 on it and has never give her any trouble.

Not real sure, but it was grouped with a couple 2007 Ford models as well.

EDIT: Faulty hood latching mech.

Saw one in person at the dealer my folks got the T&C at, it just don't look right. I'm going back that way to order something, maybe I'll stop at the Dodge dealer next door just to look at the new Avenger and see if that looks any different in person.
