Question

I,m on my second truck now but its the first new one for me.My ? is when can I switch to synthetic oil.I've heard it is so slick that an engine wont break in properly with it. I have about 4000 miles on mine should I go back in with SAE or can I go to synthetic now?

I'm no expert but I waited until the 7000k oil change and went w/synthetic blend, then the next change I used full synthetic. The cummins doesn't really break in till 10k+ ! good luck <><

Cool

Well one thing is for sure,a synthetic oil is the way to a long life.I changed mine at 9,000 miles. This is my 4th Ram diesel I've owned and the best one. My personal choice for the synthetic was Amsoil, simply because it is the only oil of its kind that can be switched with conventional oils if one gets tired of paying the price for synthetics. Also, you might want to try some E.R. along with the synthetic you choose,, proven gains on our race motors on the dyno with it(just a thought).Well hope I you find what you are seeking in oil reasearch ,lots are out there and many are quality products Good Luck!!
