Question

anyone replaced the standard clutch fan with an electric aftermarket unit ??

That standard clutch fan has got to "cost" horsepower AND fuel mileage.

havent done it but saw a tv show were they did it. looked like a good idea but if i remember it was about 600 bucks for it. I think a guy could use that on something like a computer box or injectors and see more out of it.

I agree that $600 could be used for something else. Has anyone thought of using an electric fan? A lot cheaper and won't use any horsepower, just electricity. Just a thought.

The best one out there is the one by Horton, but, they claim only 10% power gain. Even on a 215 hp stick truck we are only talking about 22 hp lost. Now for the money involved(around $600 +/-)money for power could be used more wisely. While everybody likes to do there own thing, that money for a aftermarket fan, I'll find those hp elsewhere, but it is your choice ultimately.Hope you find what you seek.. Hi gang, an electric fan eg. the type that mounts on a radiator front or back will not flow as much air as a machanical fan will. The horton unit has an electric clutch on the hub of the fan itself. It is a real # power gain because even under load and the fan is required it only eats electricity. The $600 spent is a no maintenance gain for the life of the truck.. more time to wash them..
