here is i tip i was reminded of today from the guys on the turbodiesel mail list.
if you want more whistle or whine.
remove your silencer ring from the turbo housing. its just inside the turbo from the intake side ( the rubber hose to the airbox) it has a snap ring that holds it in an you can take it in and out easily

it doesnt really do anything other than reduce the turbo whine. sorry no hp here.

Just removed it. Cool, love that whine going up hills on the interstate.

BTW, it's on the air filter side of the turbo, not the intercooler side.

If you remove it, and then later decide to put it back in make sure it is installed fully and seated. If not reinstalled properly it can come loose and your turbo will ingest it. Destroying the turbo.

Just a word of caution.

They are also a lot noisier with a K&N filter installed.
