Default Bell housing behind a 5.7 Hemi

Do the new HEMI truck and car engines have the same bolt pattern to bolt a small block bell housing to it? I looking a future project and the barracuda was orginally a stick car.

Why yes they are. I spent a week trying to find the answer to that same question. We were looking to put this motor on a dyno and trying to figure out how to do it. I was told that you would have to use the fly wheel for the 5.7 though. That I haven't researched yet. But the bolt pattern is the same.

You need to use the 5.7 fly wheel. You cut the ring gear off of it and oval one hole for the converter and your set to put a sb auto tranny behind it.

I was looking at putting one in my car and found alot of info. The expensive part is getting it to run unless you get the MP crate.

I hate to say this ( since I work at Painless) but, you can try to call Street and Performance. The at least used to build a 5.7 Hemi harness. They had some issues with the tranny functions but since you are going to run a manual trans. I think you will be able to get what you are looking for.

Hey Glenn I think that he is going to use a Manual tranny be hind it. If that is so then you should be able to use the ring gear if you use a starter from the same set up. Is this correct.

Mopar performance has the wiring harness down. Part number P5153339 is for the MPI injected engine. Part number P5153340 is for the carb'd conversion. All are stand alone. The safety bell is P5153602 which will mount a Tremec TKO 5 speed behind the 5.7 and 6.1 / 392. Lakewood part number 15315 is the same clutch can that is available to the public as a special now and after the first of the year, this will be a part that they stock.

By the way Mopar has the flywheel for the 5.1 and 6.1. I'll get the part number and post it.

Thanks for all the help. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
