Default Portland OR. Area Auto Machine Shops

Hey Guys:

I'm looking for an automotive machine shop in the Portland-Vancouver area (and as far south as Eugene) that has a good reputation with Mopar owners. Quality, cost and schedule are my primary concerns (and in that order). I'm looking for basic block processes (hot tank, decking, bore, hone, align bore, etc.) in addition to balancing.

Thanks,

- EM

I would contact Don over at FBO Systems. I am sure that he could recommend a good shop in the area.

hello, for a very good quality machine shop, EASTCO Machine. ask for craig.
he knows how to do quality machine work. I'm a mopar machine shop, but too far away. Eastco will do you a good job. I send my cranks to them for balancing and stroke/indexing, turning. I recommend them over FBO!!!!!
just food for thought. Eastco has a good reputation.

i agree with 70 about bob drummond. bob did my 440 back in '96, and i've been real happy with it. he's also done good motors for my brother and dad. there's another guy, named grant springer, who you might also want to check out. after many years in portland, he's back in eugene.

Wow, you clearly know nothing about FBO and yet you recommend against him. I know this as FBO does NOT do machine work. I recommend him for a referal. I know that he uses a top quality machine shop.

ehosltler,
your ASSUMING he knows nothing of FBO. He didn't say anything bad about anyone. Just gave his honest OPINION.

Nothing wrong with that.

And I made a simple response. That response was that FBO does NOT do machine work (as he insinuated they do). I was simply correcting his error.

BS!

hello,

I have to agree with Ed.

This statement would suggest there is something wrong with FBO's machining.

And as Ed said, FBO doesn't do machining. It would seem that perfmachst didn't know that, and also didn't know what shop FBO does use to do thier machining(since there was no mention of it either)
So the "anti" recomendation would seem to be an opinion that was not based on anything real or substantial.

Sort of like saying "DO NOT buy a car at walmart!!"
You can't anyway, so what kind of advice is that?

I guess this has gotten off topic...LOL

I will simply say, it doesn't matter if Like Don at FBO or not, he is one picky SOB, and I can't see Don recomending or using a shop that didn't do good work. .02

In the same breath, the other shops mentioned here must have done something right so that they would be mentioned here.

earlymopar, like any information you find online, you'll have to sort it out for yourself

Hello, Good to know that Eastco is honest and upfront, etc..

But ...how is FBO going to be a "stroker" with this guy, when FBO doesn't even do machining? Ed was Just looking to have Don give a referal here, right?

As for real people knowing, what about these people?

Enough said?
