Idea Stroker Kits?

Merry Christmas!!!

I’ve just been doing some more exhaustive research on the Internet into the vast array of stroker kits and would appreciate any information that you guys out there may have. Namely, I am interested in the newer 383 to 430 based stroker kit. I have found kits from numerous suppliers like Muscle Motors, Hughes Engines, and one I knew little about until now, 440Source. I also uncovered what looks like to me to be an all out feud between 440Source and Hughes Engines. This in the form of a tech article on the Hughes Engines web site entitled “cheap stroker kits” posted on 06/01/06. Then a rebuttal to that article post on the 440Source web-sight entitled “expensive stroker kits.” Wow! I guess there is some pretty fierce compition out there when it comes to stroker engine kits.

So at this point in my research of reading these articles, it appeared to me that in the realm of stroker kits, 440Source my have an edge in the stroker kit market… please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. After all, that is why I am writing this thread. If you are unfamiliar with 440Source.com, take a moment and check it out and for yourself.

Also, please let me know if you have installed any brand of a stroker kit into your car, and your total experience with tha

I am one who has purchased the 440source 383 to 431 stroker package. It all came as advertised, my engine shop had no issue with any of the parts including balancing of the crankshaft. They did some minor clearance work on the block but overall everything else was just fine. I used this motor all of 2006 in the Sportsman class at the local race track which was a 11 race schedule. Overall I put on roughly 80 to 90 passes. I am still working out some electrical and fuel problems, but at the last race i was pulling some of my best times. So, all i can say is that i have had no issues. 440source was very helpful during the entire process. I hope that helps.

I have looked at 440source as well.I wish I checked them out more before I started to build my 440 stroker ,I didn't go with a kit I got 1 part at a time.Do yourself a favour get a kit.I am almost done the build now and will have a great motor when done but it cost me more then I thought it would have. The guy's in the Drag forum helped me out alot.

Lots of positive feedback at moparts about 440 source. look at the two articles from hughes and 440source. pretty easy to decide who I would rather do business with. hint: Not the tool that appears to have started the whole arguement.

I bought 2 cranks from 440Source.The first one was/is a little off on the taper and roundness specs for a 700HP motor,so I'm going to regrind it.It is a 4.25" Chevy pin RB crank.

The second crank, the one that fits the topic,is the 440Source 3.915" B crank with the Chevy pins and Eagle 6.700 rods.CH is about 1.320" which is about as short of a piston as you'd want to run on the street.Displacement ends up at 450".Bobweight is 2247.The quality of this crank was much tighter than the first one.I'd have no problems buying from Brandon again.I wouldn't give Hughes a nickle.I'm hoping to fire the motor this weekend if it ever stops snowing.
