Default 1979 Plymouth Horizon Question

We have a 1979 Plymouth Horizon that we recently became the third owners of. It has only 36,000 original miles on it with the 1.7 engine and the automatic. The interior is in excellent show room condition and the exterior is also in excellent condition. The car runs great the only problem with it now is the front pipe broke away from the converter, which I hope to have fixed soon.
My question is how much should I ask for this vehicle ?
and is anybody out there interested in a very clean 79 Horizon ?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Confused

As nice as this car may be, to get someone excited about a 28 year old econobox is unlikely. The 1.7 engine is made by Volkswagen. Maybe if it is really that clean you could try putting it on EBAY. A local mufler shop could probably fix the pipe for you. Parts for these cars are pretty tough to come by these days As for collector value I doubt it has any. -good luck!

I doubt you will get it. The 1.7 had valve seal/ guide issues, usually by 50K that require headwork. Can't say for sure about 79 but the 78's would go through ball joints every 30-50K. I had a 78 and it was a lot of work to keep running right with the lean burn setup and carb.

Aside from that, the hardest part about selling it would be the astounding lack of power with the automatic. I think they are like 80hp with a 3 speed and totally gutless.

My 82 year old mother has a 78 that has about 50K on it and we figure we will be lucky to get $200 for it. It is also a 1.7/auto.
