great jog you ever use a web site called photobucket.com my daughter showed me how to use ,i'm getting old and i can't see as good .i would be a little conserned about torking in the cold weather because the metel will shrink .002/.003 ,and will change at running temp.i'm not really sure if its going to be a problem or not but its something to think about.

Well, I finally got the cam degreed in. When I installed it "straight up" it was 6 degrees off! I ended up using both an offset cam key (2-degrees) and the 4 degree advance on the cloyes crank sprocket. I have more pictures, but I need to borrow the kids laptop to copy the memory card from my phone.
Only digital camera I have is in my phone lol.

Dang it, I read my timming card wrong, I thought the intake was supposed to be open 0.050" @ -3.5-degrees when it was actually only -1.5 lol. I guess I need to remove that 2-degree cam key!

Anyhow, here is some interesting cam data comparing my Hughes 1523 cam and my friends Crane 272-2 cam. Listed below is the measured durations of the cams calculated at different lobe lifts:

Lobe Lift: Crane IN: Hughes IN: Crane EX: Hughes EX:
0.002 288 286 298 294
0.004 275 276 286 284
0.006 267 269 279 277
0.008 261 262 273 271
0.010 256 258 268 266
0.020 242 242 254 251
0.050 216 215 228 223
0.100 185 185 197 194
0.150 157 158 169 166
0.200 127 130 139 140
0.250 91 96 105 111
0.300 23 43 57 72

The cams are very close in duration, but above 0.200" the smaller Hughes cam really has the valves open for much more duration than the larger (advertised) Crane cam. At 0.300" (near max lift for both cams), the hughes has 20 degrees more intake duration and 15 degrees more exhaust duration.

Here's a update on the 360 project. I't all together and running (finally!)
I had to mill the intake 0.060" so it would fit my milled heads/block.

The engine fired up on the third crank and I let it run at 2,500 RPM for a good 20 minutes. I may have about 100 miles on the engine now, but right after I got the truck home (maybe 20 miles on it), I started it the next day and had tappet noise. I found the #1 intake tappet was not pumping up?
I messed with the adjustable rocker arm to almost fully compress the lifter, than ran the engine and it still ticked, so I loosed the pre-load arn re-started the engine and it quieted down a bit, So I re-adjusted the lifter to one turn pre-load and so far it seems to be fine? Do you think I need to worry about the lifter?

Anyhow, on the fuel system, Iddropped the fuel tank and added a 3/8" pickup line that connects up to -6AN line and an edelbrock 140 gph? electric fuel pump.
I will be adding a pressure regulator and fuel gauge this week. I would like to use a by-pass regulator, but I have a decent (used) holley type regulator so I am thinking of just addeing a 1/16" restriction in a return line so fuel keeps flowing through the lines.

The engine runs fairly good, I'm pretty sure the Holley Truck Avenger is running rich, but I am waiting to have the regulator installed before I re-set the float levels and mess with tuning it.
