Chasin' Down a Lexus

The competitors:
Me in my 94 Intrepid. Bone stock 3.3L with 130,000 miles and original struts.

Them in a 2001 Lexus IS300.

driving down I94 from Wisconsin into Illinois, I noticed a new Lexus weaving in and out of traffic and generally making a nuisance of itself. Against my wife's pleadings, I decided to see what the Lexus had. Our first encounter was one of agility and prowess in evading traffic. After about 10 minutes, I gained the upper hand and left her (yes a woman driving the Lexus) stuck behind a Ford Tempo.
After about 10 minutes, I see the IS 300 back in the clear and gaining on me. I slowly increased speed until she was at my rear bumper. She nailed it then and we were doing 90. We kept even steadily increasing to about 110 when my wife finally shrieked for me to slow down. I did. Back down to 85-90 and our little war of agility began anew. After about another 10 minutes of this, she took an exit with her hand waving out the sunroof. That was fun! I was very proud of my old, beat up, 130,000 mile Intrepid for being able to keep up with the supposed best of the best! To be fair, though, the Lexus looked to have more left above 110 while my Intrepid was topped out at 112.

Videos? Yea, I thought they were cool too so I downloaded them to show someone else. I have enough room on my website to host them for a short while, so I'll copy them there. Here are the links to each of the guys 3 videos. The Z28 one is a bit lame - it doesn't show much. The others, Chuck and Chuck2 show the Jeep smoking the corvette and Mustang.
I'll leave them up for a week.
