intermediate shaft re & re
Anyone got an easy way to do this (Engine in car) without pulling the pan and pump and pushing it out? Mine's sticking in the bushing and I want to prime the pump before starting up. My magnetic pickup isn't strong enough to do so.

If you turn it with a screwdriver the gear teeth will act like threads to pull it up. I forget which way to turn it, but it will be obvious when you try. That should get it far enough to get past the gunk on the shaft that's below the bushing. Your magnet should get it from there, or a long pair of external snap ring pliers to grab the slot.

Makes sense to me - thanks, torch, I'll try that.

If all else fails, I'd prefer to pull the intake to access rather than the pan.
By the way -swearing in a loud voice will not help remove the shaft - just my personal experience - may work for you. |
