Default What is the best intake manifold to use?

Here is my combo thus far:
Standard 360 Block (1974)
Standard Heads
Comp Cam (can't remeber lift or duration - at work right now)
Hooker Headers
Mopar Electronic Ignition
Holley 750 DBBL Pumper Carb
3 Speed Torqflite
3:55 Suregrip rear.

I have an Edlebrock performer intake but would like to upgrade (if necessary)
Thanks in advance.

What you have on there now isnt that bad for such a mild build. Cam specs would be nice, but is it just me or does that seem like way too much carb for that setup? It seems to me a 600 or 650 would be a better choice. Basically it sounds like you have a stock 4bbl 360 with a cam and headers.

Welcome. Did you upgrade from the stock pistons? Or shave the heads? These motors are around 8-1, and you can't do better than a dual plane with low compression. Unless the car is very light, and/or steeply geared. Cam specs are needed, too.

I will have to get the cam specs when I get home. I currently have a 600CFM edlebrock carb on this motor and it just does not run well at all. So from the sounds of it I should stick with my edlebrock performer intake - I was thinking of going to an airgap.

It very well could be an issue with the carb itself, not the CFM. You may need to properly tune it or something could need replaced in it. Maybe you have a leak in an intake gasket or the carb gasket. It could be anything. A better description of how it is not running well would be a big help. Chances are pretty good that someone here may be able to help you out or get you pointed in the right direction. Its never cheaper to throw parts at a problem without diagnosing it first.

An upgrade to the intake would be ethier a RPM (Air-gap or not) or A Weiand Stelath. If the cam doesn't start to make power after 1500 rpm's, you'll have a flat spot in that area.

On the carb, I would not use a double pumper on a automatic and 3.55's. You would do best with a vacuum secondary carb.

The little Edelbrock is the better choice as stated unless your cam is too big for the setup you described. The Holley won't do anything for you at this stage. Go over the easy stuff first as swinger suggests, get us more info (cam, pistons or compression stats, etc) and come back here.

If it's a dog, I doubt it's the intake.

The rest of the build doesn't look like it's radical enough to need a dramatic change in intake.

Look for carb, ignition, problems first...IMHO

along with cam specs can you tell us what the initial timing is set at and what the total mechanical timing is all in at what rpm? It may not be a carb problem at all.
