I recently had my tranny rebuilt and Im not positive but i think my problem lies in the linkage. The problem is that it wont shift into 3rd(drive). It shifts good 1-2 and works like a charm in reverse. Are there any ways to make sure that your linkage is adjusted right?

To eliminate the linkage as the problem, temporarily disconnect the linkage at the transmission lever. If the trans will upshift to 3rd with the linkage disconnected the problem is in the linkage.

You may have a problem with the valve body. I had a transmission do this and found one of the channels in the valve body had cracked.

How easy was that to fix 451?

Wekk some J-B weld actuallt fixed it so I could get home, A month or so later I replaced the valve body just to be safe. You may not have that problem, it could be something else?

There is a check ball just for third gear, if its left out the trans won't shift to third.
