Default Quad turbo Hemi

Good gravy! Saw this and had to share it. 4 Turbos on a 426, now that is some plumbing! Although 1400 HP sounds a little conservative when a 411 sbc on 18psi makes 1300. Hey, 20 MPG too? Cant beat that with a stick!

so what would this get 20 MPG in? Nice piece but what would it fit in a fenderless car.

That's a beauty! I think you made a typo and meant to say "20 GALLONS per mile.

I only have one question.

WHY? I mean you can get the same results with two or even less. I mean I have seen true street motors with 750 hp on pump gas and a carb. I mean it is a great looking set up but still.

WHY? I say why not? not every body wants to get the same results by being exactly like everyone else. this looks really cool, but i sure wouldn't do it this way either! lol

I have been saying somebody needs to do that to a top fuel car for a few years. I think i would take at least 4 too run a top fuel car.But that hp number looks a little low for me.Is that 35000 just for the motor or the car to. that is sweet as h*ll in a belvidere to.

Basically, around 15 psi with a turbo doubles the engines output. I'm currently building a turbo wedge at the moment, and I would say that it isn't as easy as it seems when reading a for sale add or a magazine article. And when you plan on making power "even" at the 1400 hp range it is expensive. The engine alone is expensive, and what are you planing to put behind it, support the fuel requirements etc.

Looks like adjusting the valves would take half a day.

For that price, and to get this much HP, isn't it simpler just to install a jet turbine?

Well, it doesnt mention the torque output, and that is what gets the ball rolling, right? You could not touch the torque of this monster with a carbed motor. HP maybe, but when a GSX-R motor makes say 130 hp, you would not want it in your slant 6 Valiant. Oh and maybe he went with 4 smaller ones to keep the turbo lag to a minimum. I have heard of 101mm turbos but how would they spool up? Ill be the first to admit that I know diddly about turbos though.

Speaking of powerful HEMIs, have you seen the V16 HEMI that was built and tested during WWII? It was tested on a P40 and with the V16 it was the fastest propeller plane ever flown.

I thought I book marked the site where the history of HEMIs is but I can’t find it.

Here's some info on that aircraft engine. http://www.enginehistory.org/Museums/chrysler.htm Single overhead cam, 2- valve head, but notice the (dual) sparkplug locations - not centrally located as in the pass. car V-8 but as aircraft ignitions all had completely independant dual ign. systems maybe it was a space requirement. Notice the fork and blade rod arrangement - just like a Harley. Shorter engine is the result. Also it's a 60 degree block. Regardless, I'm sure a lot of that tech made it into future engines.

That would be a modified XP47 THunderbolt and it looked to be closer to 3500 HP, not bad, 504 MPH in level flight for a mammoth fighter at the time

Yeah, you'd need a ridiculous rear-end with a top speed of maybe 40 mph to get that thing moving. What's the torque on those engines anyway?
