Default Stall when she wants!

I have a 97 neon SOHC.. standard
Sometimes it catches a bad idle at start or at red light and stalls out.. it always starts right back up by one turn of key or a pop of the clutch, then gas it up to keep a high idle.
I would say its mostly on cold starts but this does happen when warm too, any one have any idea's... could this be as simple as air flow?
its a beat up neon with 140,000 with a small exhaust leak.
any help will help..
Marc

Well, it sounds fuel related to me. With that milage, it's same to assume that they are not up to new car spec.

Take them into a local NAPA store and have them flow tested. Unless you have codes that point elsewhere, that's where I would start.

Or just pour in a small bottle of Lucas ($4) and see if anything improves.
