A903 - how tough?
A question for people knowing their Mopar gearboxes...
I'm still convinced that my nephew's car will benefit at some circuits if he has a 3-speed gearbox. Seems that the A903 might be just the right thing to use, it was probably available to fit the '64 model with 318. If it wasn't, it was in '62 or '63, so will swing right in there, I assume. Am I right? This is the first 'how tough' question... I reckon it's tough to get answers on this kind of question. Next 'tough' question: Will the A903 contain a fully worked 318 Poly? It's said to be a 'light duty' gearbox, but how 'light duty' might it be? Light duty as in the 318 is marginal on it, or maybe because it won't bolt up to a Hemi and run at the drags? Next 'tough' question: How would I find a 2.12:1 gearset in one? That's the optimum set of ratios for our use, I think, so are these about? They're from early sixties 318 cars. Are those questions tough enough? |
