Default Carb question, please help

I am trying to get my 1973 Swinger running again.

When it was running last, I noticed that the carb would spray gas out of one of the sides, and I DONT mean where the gaskets meet, it was literally shooting a tiny mist of gas out of the side of the bottom portion of the carb, right out of the metal. Now I know this is no good. here is my setup:

1973 Dodge Dart Swinger with 318 and 2barrel Carter BBD, carburetor. Everything on the car is bone stock.
I am currently replacing broken timing gears, so the front of the engine is off, I would like to change the carb as well, since it was making me nervous.

What can I do? what are my options as far as carb replacement? Should I ebay it?

Do i dump $400-500 on a new intake and carb by stepping up to a modest, MODEST 4-barrel? The car is my dad's and he wants to keep it original (I am going to buy it from him, but for now it is his).

Help me out please, thanks

Caesar

Dude, you can get a 4bbl stock manifold and a used Carter for under a C note. Check the local trader paper or Ebay for a Carter 500-600 AFB/AVS and a 65-69 intake manifold, tha later ones are spreadbore and would need a simple adapter. Youll need to fab the linkage or get the complete linkage from the donor car. Only place fuel is under pressure in a carb is the fuel inlet to the needle/seat passage. A dab of 2 part epoxy on the clean carb would probably seal that pinhole.

Default thanks

I will have to go with the epoxy, I cant "fab" a linkage right now. I might have to look for a stock 2barrel BBD carter on ebay or the local papers.

thanks brother.

You should be able to get a replacement carb for it.
