Default Electrical question

My 72 Cuda has a Chrysler 60 or 70 amp alternator with 3 wires. Which wire is the alternator output, as I have been told I should run that to the 12 volt terminal on the starter relay to minimize deterioration of the firewall bulkhead connector.

The large stud with the nut on it feeds the battery.

Thanks. Anyone out there run a wire from the alternator to the starter relay, while leaving the existing wire from the alternator to the ammeter?

yup. done it a few times. works fine. would still reccommend getting rid of the ammeter, and its pretty much a useless current draw.
