Default vacuum lines and MSD ignitions?

i wish i knew more about vacuum lines they always confuse me but here it goes I got a 77 doba trying to switch out the lean burn sys and stock ignition w/MSD 6AL blaster 2 coil and pro billet dist now 2 questions (1) where do the vacuum lines from air filter and lean burn computer go after i remove the air cleaner cover and stuff? and (2) i can just unplug the old computer (both plugs) and still be fine right? i suppose i could add that i have a 400 bb

Just follow those lines from your aircleaner back to the engine and plug them. You will no longer need them. And yes, you can just leave the wires unplugged, but most leave them in place with the stock aircleaner still intact. That way you can't tell it's been swapped over. Kinda stealth thing I guess. I left it on my 5th when I changed it over from leanburn cause there's not a lot of after market air cleaners for the stock 2bbl.

Assuming you got a distributor without vacuum advance then dwc is correct. If you have the vacuum advance version you need to run a vacuum line from the ported vacuum source on the carb to the advance unit on the dist. I think the vac. line to your (stock) aircleaner only operates the carb heat diverter flap in the snorkel and you could leave that alone or eliminate, although considering you live in MN I'd keep the carb heat functional! Be sure you block the flap in the cold air position if you do remove the line.

thanks vac lines bother me for some reason. yes the dist is vac less so by pluging the one from the carb i should be ok. thanks again i'll let ya know how it goes

The vacuum line on the side of the aircleaner gave the computer a vacuum reading so it could adjust the timing. Therefore it can be capped.

removed all the stock ignition crap hooked up 6AL new dist, new coil, took some eather to pop it off(still got a carb issue i think) she started got her warmed up took her down a straight road by the house she goes now way better than before, even roasted the tires around a corner,had to let off before they blew thanks for the help guys not too bad for a big a$$ boat.
