Default TOURQUE CONVERTERs-DOES SIZE MATTER?

Hi, I think I've got the whole stall thing speed figure out, in my case 4000-4500 rpm is what I want. I can get that in 7" to 10" converters. What's the difference between a 7" that stalls at 4000rpm and a 10" that stalls at the same rpm, is it just weight?
Thanks.

The further from center the more the weight counts. The smaller diameter will accelerate and decelerate faster than the larger units of the same weight. Same thing applies to the small diameter multiple disc clutch units that are used on circle burners, at 5" or so. Really quick!

Default Without getting into the internals...........

as I understand, the smaller units weigh less and allow quicker acc. With a very light vehicle, this is great. If your running a heavy car/truck, the added weight of a larger tc is the same difference as running an aluminum flywheel or a steel flywheel as it will help with launch because of the added weight.

Converter size isn't all about weight mass, there are circumstances where a smaller converter works better in a heavy car.

Higher stall speed can be achieved by modifyong the insides of a larger converter or simply going to a smaller converter and overpowering it, so to speak.

It's a lot more complex than that but that's why different sized converters can stall at the same rpm behind the same motor and vice versa.

I stated, Not counting the internals, the difference is that the heaver would serve to keep the rotating mass at a higher volicity, same as a steel flywheel.
A small cubic inch, heavy car needs the added weight of a steel flywheel, where an aluminum flywheel with a small cubic inch, heavy car would be more likely to bog on launch.
