Stp
I read in another thread about the merits of STP. How many out there use it? I was always under the impression it was for low compression/low oil pressure engines that are on their last leg. What are the benefits of using it mixed with today's oils? The stuff has been around forever, so it has to be beneficial in at least some engine environments.

It seems that with the removal of high pressure additives like zinc from conventional motor oils, STP might be a useful aditive due its the high zinc content.

I use it for assembly lube, and break in additive. Never done me wrong.

I have started adding a bottle with each oil change when most of the available oil went to the SM rating with the lower ZDDP content.

My dad has always used it and I have always used it, Im no chemist, but it seems I have never had a cam go bad or had an oil problem on any of my motors, I recommend it.
I think it being around for so long shows the consumer in general thinks it is good too, like slick 50 and crap like that, do you ever see that crap around. |

Good points guys. I guess it might be a good investment.

i was told years ago that zink draws moisture. if your engine sets for
extended time could be a problem. |
