Click around here for some very good info on Magnum heads; http://hughesengines.com/
Otherwise, 318 and 360 magnum heads are the same head. You would need to redrill the head for an LA intake or the intake for the magnum head. They 1.6 rockers instead 1.5. This means watch your total lift, magnums handle about .500 OK. YOU must check this! To use Magnum heads on a LA engine, you'll need to use AMC lifters and hollow pushrods to oil the rockers. Thats the basics. |

Hello drag duster;
Well I am running one LA block Magnum heads. 12.80 @ 107 best average is 13.00 @ 104.5 this is in 3650 A body with me in it. Idles at 850 with 15" maniflod vacuum. Max timing only needs to be 34 deg. total. Intake is dual plane M1 with 650 speed demon. Cam is single pattern racer brown 230 at .050 .511 lift using 1.6 rockers. If using stock magnum rocker arms all the mopar stuff works. If using roller rockers use crane studs and guide plates. One area to check is parting line at intake where push rod passes through head, can get close. denny |

Lifters
If you go with roller lifters, you can have pushrod interference with the heads. The rollers are taller, and change the geometry. Be vewy vewy careful.

I have the eddy magnums heads on my 388 hybrid running an LA hydraulic cam. You need oil through lifters and hollow pushrods and some clearancing of the pushrod hole in the heads due to the longer pr and the angles involved - not a big deal just some time with a die grinder. The 1.6 rockers will bump up the valve lift and the individual rockers make it easy and cheaper to run the brand X roller rockers.The double quench pad is a definite advantage too. I run a calculted 12.0:1CR on 91 octane with no detonation, (3500ft elevation) |

The rest of the magnum is as bulletproof, as the LA's too. If you were wondering.
Same Crank, rods, and pistons. |

Not exactly. Similar rods and pistons, but not the same. Rods are narrower on the small side, pistons are a little different, too. The assembly has a different balance weight so a different balancer/flex plate combo is used.
