Default 340 challenger...not starting

Changed out dist cap...and rotar. Car won't start. Went thru wiring it is all correct, put new plug wires on and still nothing..changed plugs still nothing..good spark.
I am thinking may have some bad gas, but not sure...it wants to fire..but won't. What am I missing?

Timing? Plug wires out of phase? Wrong order?

How long since this car last ran?

It ran last week...it had been sitting for 2 weeks prior to that...I have the firng order and wires in correct spot....I think maybe with the unleaded fuel having 10% ethanol, sitting for the 2 weeks maybe phase separtion of the fuel...When I started last before putting new distributor in...it ran,,backed it down driveway..turned it around and back in garage..since then..won't start...

I'm not sure if I understand correctly. It ran, then you put in a new distributor, and now it won't run? When was the distributor replaced? Before running it, or after?

What distributor did you put in? Any chance the rotor is 180 degrees out of phase? Did you check the gap on the pickup (assuming Mopar dist.)?

Have you checked to see if the cap and rotor are compatible? Make sure the cap has a center electrode contacting the rotor and that the rotor isn't too small in diameter.

ok...good point ...it could be that the distributor is not original as I thought...so when I went to parts store..told them I had a 73 340 and needed a distributor cap . Good point...Thanks You!!

Could you have wired the cap 45 degrees out? By that I mean you might have transferred the #1 plug wire to the #8 or #2 cap socket, and therefore have the rest of them out by one terminal (45 deg.). Don't ask how I know about this.

I don't think it would be bad gas after only 2weeks. How long was it sitting prior to that?
