Default Slip yoke problems

I have a tf 727 bolted to a 383. I need a slip yoke. I do not have ont to look at and i need to know how long it needs to be. Stock driveshaft and 8 3/4 rear axle. Summit sells 2. 8.188 and 6.563 total length. I called a couple shops but no one knew. i dont want to be 1.5 inches long or short ordering the wrong one. Please help.

The longer of the two slip yokes has a smooth bore in front of the splines that is intended for transmissions that have an internal output shaft seal. (Mostly '65-'68) Pic shows the shaft seal on the far right.

If there is no internal seal either yoke will work.

The two i looked are mopar performance wich uses (7290) its 8.188 inches and steel. Hughes performance which uses (1350) and is 6.563 inches and ductile iron. I think i am going with the steel mopar performance at 8.188 inches.

The long one will always be the choice... it works in both types...

Thanks for the explanation John... now where can I find a couple of these?
