Default Mystery Bell housing and flywheel

Hello,

I was given a bell housing and a flywheel from a friend. He believed they were from a small block but I have a '74 318 and a '72 340 and the bolt pattern on the bell housing nor the flywheel match up. I have a big block bell housing from a 383 and it doesn't appear to match up to the holes on it either, so I can kinda count out a big block bell housing. Also, the bell housing is strange to me in that the bolts for mounting to the engine go from the inside (meaning you have to reach up and in to place the bolts through the hole to thread them) not the outside, so it would be somewhat difficult to mount. The casting number on the bell housing is 3743625. Do you have any idea what these would fit?

Pictures?

Flywheel bolt holes 6 or 8?

Maybe old hemi or poly engine.

If the flywheel doesn't fit the small block it will not fit the big block (unless it is a 8 bolt then that is hemi)

It's most likely a mid 70's bellhousing for a /6 with a 11" clutch. The mopar casting numbers are a "running number", so you can estimate the year, when the part first came in to production.

Part numbers and casting numbers are usually within a digit or two of each other, part number 3743627 is from a '75-'83 /6 with an 11" clutch.

Help Mystery bell housing and flywheel again

Thanks for the replies guys. I took some real quick photos to post. The first photo shows the back and the hole where the input shaft would fit is approximately 5 1/8" in diameter. The second shot is where it would bolt to the motor and this is where I wouldn't think this would be a slant six bell housing cause of the starter location. Finally the flywheel which is a six bolt pattern but when you try to match it up to the crank it fits perfectly up to the flange but at best 5 out of 6 holes will match up and it is approximately 14.5" in diameter. The clutch that was bolted to this thing was an 11" diameter clutch and once again the casting number is 3743625. Thanks again and hope this helps.

It is a slant six bellhousing and flywheel / clutch. The bolt pattern of the flywheel has even spaced holes, that's /6 while the V8's has one bolt hole offset.
