cry2 Throttle Cable Woes

I put Lokar's cable style kickdown on and the AR Engineering style throttle bracket all with the stock/came with the car throttle cable.

I never cared for the way the Lokar made the shift points behave and just feel that the original style rod kickdown was far superior. So mine was all hacked I found a nice set on ebay and off I went all back to stock.

I bought the correct mopar to demon carb linkage adaptor hooked it all up and went to adjsut the throttle cable.

The problem is this.

Taking all the slack out of the cable with the throttle closed I only get 3/4 WOT

And in the opposite side if I adjsut at WOT it hold the throttle blades open 1/4 of the way when closed.

There just isn't enough adjustment with the metal sleeve on the throttle cable. Now on the old set up the throttle hook up was about 1/4 of an inch forward of where the demon/mopar adapter ends up.

Is a 19" Throttle cable correct for my car or is the linkage adapter a POS?

Sounds like the throttle lever is too long. The cable length isn't the issue, the lever length is. Can you shorten the distance between the throttle shaft and the cable connector? If you can mess with that you can get the right travel.

Only way would be to drill a new hole on the mopar to demon adapter lower down heres a picture of it

http://www.arengineering.com/throttl...cketframe.html

Not sure if that will do it wouldnt it just shorten the effect of the cable?

76duster, I think what needs doing (bear with me here, I have a problem with geometry ) is to do what it takes to make the throttle lever travel 90 degrees without needing more than the available travel provided by the throttle cable. Drilling a new hole will do that, you just need to decide which end to drill. (Try a cardboard mock-up - that's how I figured out my Lokar setup) Pieeye, I'll try and post a picture of my Lokar/ TQ setup tomorrow, should help.

Man you think this is hard, try hooking up a Predator to a Dodge Pk throttle lever, and keeping the kickdown intact, now this is challenging.
