Default 318 Headers

Has anyone used SUMMIT Headers? Any good? Do they fit? I have a fresh 318 to go togther - only mods are 2 to 4 bbl with Q-Jet and Performer intake. Thanks!!

They are made by flowtech I beleve. Probably as good as any other in that price range. From what I have heard fitment is not too bad, realy depends on application. A 318 header in anything but an A body should be pretty easy install.
Have used cheap headmans in a 318 Dart before there the same basic design as the flowtech or summitt, didn't require too much tweaking but had to remove some steering linkage and raise the motor. I would recomend a cam change if you can afford one. The cam in those 2BBL motors is not going to make very good use of that 4BBL. I have used the summitt cams in 318's and also the factory 340 automatic cam, alot more power and realy no millage penalty when driven normally. There are some good options from comp cams and others for more modern profiles that make even more power. I think it was mopar muscle a while back took a stock 318 re-man engine added manifold, carb, headers and small comp cam and got a 100 HP increase over stock. The 318 is an easy motor to hop up for a good increase even with the small valve heads.

I have, on my '73 Cuda years ago. They went in fine. No dents, which is alllmost unheard of.

A Edel. Performer intake and a Q-jet carb huh? Did you bump up the cam size?

Thanks gents - now I want to buy a GD cam too! I just wanted to clean it up (really well) and re-sell - (I really want a convertible something) but I thought the 4 bbl would be a nice upgrade. I was hoping to put the engine togther and spray the Epoxy this week...but - you won't believe this...the engine shop (supposedly best in city) left a friggin' freeze plug in a galley!!! Luckily I spied it before I put it together. Now I have to pull a new plug to get it out....so like I said, maybe I have some time and should order a cam fom SUMMIT....recommendations?
