Default Help! How to seal off a hood scoop.

I have put a hood scoop on my car and i want to seal it off so the only air going into the carb is from the hood scoop area. In general terms I think I need a piece of aluminum and some foam. From there is where i get fuzzy.
1. How big a piece of aluminum?
2. How do i attach the aluminum to the air cleaner base?
3. What type of foam is best used to seal this area?
4. Have i asked the right questions?
5. Does anyone have pictures they can share?

Thank you for your help.

1) big enough to cover the hole in the hood
2) I use a Miller 350
3) High density 1 inch thick tall enough to hit hood when closed
4) yes
5) this board does not allow pics from my camara, too high of resolution and clarity.

yes the 350 is a very good welder.

You could also fab one up with fiberglass or carbon fiber. Welder is faster and immediate.

Those "one size fits all" kits are just places to start and see how the "budget minded" cobble up stuff.

You can start with a dragster pan and start modifying until it satisfies your needs. Foaming is the last thing done after all the components are fit, finished, and functional.

If its V-8 i use a a old air cleaner base with high PIZZA Pie PAn my local pizza house donated it , them i use foam that i sprayed advevive on and it sealed so good with the scoop plug in when ya booted the motoar it sucked the Fiberglass down.they are easy just pay attention and remember Mopar motoe has a 1 and 1/2 inch offset so scoop isnt usully rt in center of hood.
