how much i can mill my 308 heads?
Hi, i get a a 308 heads for my 360... how much can i mill them? is good if mill .025? thanks

.025" is no problem I have been up to .090".

thanks, so if i mill .025 i need to mill the intake and block too??

It's possible, but it really depends of the head gasket thickness, intake gasket thickness, production tolerances etc. I have milled .020" without need of doing anything else, I think more than that and you at least have to enlongate the intake bolt holes a bit to get them started. Of course you can also mill the intake faces of the heads 0.95 should be milled for every 1.00 milled from the deck.

We have milled .020" many times without having to do anything else. But it depends of the factory tolerances etc. If you get the intake bolts tarted, you should have no problem.

I'd mill the intake side of the head .015"... You shouldn't need it but I've found that when I do follow up on the intake side of the head it really helps out with manifold installation and sealing.

Or enlongate the bolt holes in the manifold slightly downwards so that it's easier to get them started.
