Question Muscle Motors "Street Killer" BB Heads

Anybody here using Muscle Motors ported street heads? Opinions? I see that 440source has some of their heads out now, and the price for either seems pretty close, although these heads do not come ported, I would think that the improved chambers & ports would be an improvement.

I dont, but my buddy had them do a motor pkg. for him 2 yrs. ago. he got their heads with the deal. it was like 8 grand when it was done. And that was with his block.I thought it was kinda high. the 440 made 550 horse on the dyno.
I rode in his car.its fast. But I think that for the price of the heads and what you have done to them, id rather spend half that and hae a stock set of heads done, the only advantage I see from the stock heads is the weight reduction.Im talking from a street car stand point. If your doing a drag car only then yeah the heads are very good for that application. But if your on a budget, id probably pursue another avenue.

my brother's been running a set of the street killers for about 8-9 years now.
they're a decent performing head, but honestly, i don't know why you'd invest
good money in 40 year old castings when you've got some excellent options
(and newer technology) out there.

i can't wait to hear how the 440source heads perform. (and their blocks, too)

Thanks for the opinions. Its a street only car, and I'm still kinda leaning towards sticking with hydraulic cams for now, since I really only plan on buzzing it to about 6k, and am looking at cams that are only around .500 lift. I'm thinking that a well ported set of heads w/ 2.14 1.81 valves should work well, but yea, those 440source heads are looking pretty good for the $. Especially since the stock valvetrain & the headers I have now will work for the time being, and they will still be good for future HP upgrades.

hey vulture, i mean valiant64 get some flow #s from them '440 source' at .200,.300,.400,.500 cause 290 cfm @.600 lift is meaningless for what u/we/most of us are doing. then compare with ported fac iron#s. And run some compression no 9.1 crap 10.25&up aluminum or not .you can bleed some off with the cam u run ,solid hopefully .

899$ a set. Independent flow numbers from real heads out of the box:
100 --- 65 --- 57
200 --- 135 --- 108
300 --- 191 --- 140
400 --- 227 --- 159
500 --- 242 --- 173
600 --- 254 --- 183
700 --- 261 --- 191
Unfortynately no comparative numbers. I remember that RPM heads were measured in the same bench and they were 271 intake peak. Seems like there is more left for cleaning than in the RPM heads. the price is so low, that you pay almost the same money here for machine work to rebuild heads. Add parts, and you are way above. I have yet to see a set, but should have one here for weekend, for some porting.

Default your heads or they're heads

If u were to buy every thing new + machine race valve job throat cut 9 angle ect/not 3angle crap, with comp bits ss valves brz guides seats springs & all that it would cost $950+/-$50. now this part kills me, those #s aren't that great, in fact they look like cleaned up bowl blended X,J small block heads. these are the #s from a pair of x heads i had flowed.
.200 int137 ex104
.250 158 124
.300 188 131
.350 213 140
.400 235 154
.450 242 174
.500 242 182
.600 231 185 I ported these while pounding beer in my work shop and there's still plenty more that can be done. I have friends that have got out of 906 282cfm .550 260cfm @.500 thats laying the short turn down big time which starts to hurt the low lift flow . stock BB iron #s aren't that great like 214 @ .500 and the exhaust is worse 140 @ .450 and going away after that. thats stock small block exhaust flow SB int 199cfm@.450 . the BB intakes have a lot of potential and since we get to force the exhaust out its handicaped exhaust port won't kill us. buying them or doing them your self will cost about the same though you may end up w/better or worse flow.
