Default Question about ROL gaskets

ROL HEAD GASKET QUESTION
Did you have any experience with ROL HI-temperature PN
HG31030HT head gasket?
What is the difference between ROL and Fel-Pro or
MrGasket parts? Each manufacturer tells you their head
gaskets are "superior". IMO=normal marketing BS. But
they don’t tell you WHY? Could you educate me?

MrGasket says: “The GRAFOIL core is a flexible
material which is stable at temperatures +1000F. The
core is sandwiched between two steel plates for
strength, and an elastomer coating adds additional
sealing”. Also, they advertise MLS gaskets (two
nitrile coated outer embossed spring steel layers with
a steel inner layer spacer).

Fel-Pro PermaTorque description says: we use a steel
core with a high density facing material to eliminate
re-torquing.

ROL seems to have a “steel core sandwiched between two
layers of GRAFOIL”, (quite similar to Fel-Pro?)

I am working on 1999 5.9L Chrysler Magnum, stock
compression, just normal highway use. Chrysler engines
are sensitive to overheating and detonation, (I found
it the hard way). I want to rebuild it with the best
available gaskets. I do not want to do it again or
re-torque. If you did it yourself, you know how much
pain in the back it is!

Actually, the ROL gaskets sound similar to Mr. Gasket. They are both dark grey. The Fel-Pro 1008 are blue.

My engines have always been the original style 340's and 360's so I never messed with Magnums. But I have taken mine apart countless of times, mainly for IHRA tech, so I know what you mean. I think the head gaskets interchange, just not sure. But, like I said, I never had a problem.

I have used ROL on several builds. The thing that struck me as better was the fact that they had a separate bead of sealer around all the water passages that the Fel Pro blue gaskets don't.
