Default transmission cooling lines

Hi Guys,

I hope someone out there can HELP ME! 71 Charger 383 727 automatic trans. I have installed TTI headers. Appears that I will have to modify the trans lines and route them differently from factory. From what I can see, the best way is to go out and run them along the frame.
Let me hear some feed back!

Lots of people do it that way, the best way is to replace the fittings in the transmission case with #6 AN fittings (the case is threaded 1/8"-27 NPT) and run #6 braided hose along the frame or up over the starter to the cooler.

Could you come out of tranny, go up bellhousing where trans bolts to engine and go around engine compartment to radiator? Kind of like the heater hoses. If you used steel braided line all the way it should look good.
That way none of the tranny lines are anywhere near the headers.

Thanks John, I didn't know they made braided hoses for transmissions. The hose will be a lot easier to route than having to bend 3/8 line.

You probably already know this but I belive you have to get high pressure hose and fittings. The lines I got for my 727 are much stiffer than reqular an6 hose and the fittings are steel.

Why would you need high pressure hose, when the lines don't carry high pressure?

Default Me too

I ran into the same issue on my Demon. I bought two barbed fittings and regular transmission fluid hose and routed the two hoses up inside the left inner fender to an auxilliary cooler at the top of the radiator. From there through the temp switch, down to the radiator trans cooler and one line back to the aux cooler. I routed the hoses in the channel in the inner fender where the wiring runs, and used SS rubber coated clamps with SS screws/nuts in the original plastic clamp holes. Looks really nice.
