EOS questions
Any body running this stuff? The bottle says its for engine assembly only. Also, how much do you run? 1 quart per 5?

The Government has taken away zinc from the engine oils in the last few years, and some people have been running diesel oil in their engines because that contained it also, but i think they had to eliminate it or cut back on it last year!. In order for a hydraulic cam to break in properly, you need this zinc in the oil! My 340 that i just finished last week and my 418 a couple of months ago got a bottle of GM Delco,Engine Oil Suppliment as it contains plenty of zinc. As soon as the engines break in,out it comes, and regular oil should do it! Hughes Racing Engines has a good article on this,as i don't have enough posts to bring that up,you will have to find it,but it is very informative!

Along this same line...I bought some of the Hughes oil additive for solid lifter cam setups. Do any of you guys run this stuff? I was under the impression that with solids you should run it all the time, not just during break in.

I just run 15w40 that my gramps buys in 55 gallon drums for the farm tractors. It is industrial oil so it still has the zink in it, I run it all the time. You can buy it at any farm store. It states on the drum "FOR OFF ROAD USE ONLY" LOL
