I recently put in an automatic locker from powertrax. It works really well and I was wondering if anybody else has used these successfully at the strip? Since my car is a street/strip I didn't want to use a spool which locks the axles together all of the time and posi or sure grip diffs lose some torque due to the friction disc slippage

I have a powertrax locker in my truck, and although I don't run it on the strip, I do run 4.56 gears with 15x38.5x15 tires, with about 360 hp / 450 ftlbs, and I have ripped apart 2 rearend housings (split axle tubes and twisted axle tube) with out damaging the locker at all. I break the tires loose when it hit 2nd gear (even with those 38" tall tires) at about 4000 rpm, so if it can stand up to this, it will probably be ok for what you want, since your tires are alot smaller, as long as your HP doesn't get to big.

I've had it in there a couple of months and it is working great. It only makes a light clicking noise when it disengages for differential action (very tolerable). My buddy rode in my car and got upset that he had spent so much on a Detroit locker. You can get them for $260 and they install in about 1/2 hour without removing your carrier or changing your differential settings. Pretty cool product.
