Default Add-a-leaf Recommendation

I have a nice 69 383 4spd satellite.

I'd like to raise the rear a tad and stiffen it up too: I don't like the way it sags when I have two adults in the back.

I want to do this in the most economical way.

What do you think of using leaf Helper Springs as an economical option over installing stiffer leaf springs?

Regards,

Bill

It would be better to get the proper leaf springs for the car than to add a helper. I've added them on trucks and did not see any gain in height on some of them. Depends on what you use too.

Agreed. It sounds as maybe the springs are worn out. The add-a-leaf deal will not help the situation, nor will air shocks or any other bandaid method. Get the MP XHD springs or contact ESPO springs & things. ESPO also offers springs with different archs to get the ride height you want.

I'm all for new springs too, but if the cost doesn't allow them there are one type of add a leafs that do work for raising height and stiffening the rear suspension. They go between the shock bracket & leaf spring, with clamps supplied for setting height which is done by raising car to 1 inch or so above desired h then tightening clamps around add's & leaf springs.
When money was tight these $44 add a leafs worked sweet.

billblack, The best, easiest, and SAFEST way is new rear springs.
Summit Racing has the following; Left spring # DCC-4452983
Right spring# DCC-4452982. These cost $102.88 each. There is an additional
shipping charge, shouldn't be that bad though.
Hope this helps.
