dumb piston question
ok, i know that flat tops and such have the little notch for install......speed pro dome pistons......dome should run accross the bottom of the block right? also they have etching like a part number on them, i would assume i should be able to read that with the block uprite. never put in dome pistons so just wanna make sure i dont have to take them back out and flip um! thanks guys

Domes across the bottom (outside) of the block. and the Rods with the bearing tangs in line with the domes. Another thing to look for is there will be 4 "left side" and 4 "right side" pistons. They need to be installed in the correct order so the intake and exhaust valves are matched to the piston valve reliefs.
If you have never done this before I would sugest finding a friend that has to help. |

Another thing to look for is if the pistons have valve reliefs machined in the dome. If there are, look to see if the reliefs are different sizes, large relief is for intake, small will be for the exhaust valve. then make sure that they correspond with the valve configuration of the head. Get it wrong, and an intake valve may clip the piston dome.
