516 head question
Has anyone used 516 heads with bigger valves and some porting with good results. It seems the quench that is possible with the closed chambers would be worth something (compression, less ping potential). But I hear the ports don't flow as well as say a 452.

I have 518s on my 383 in my ramcharger they have been milled, ported, polished, with 2.14/1.81 manley valves, bronze guides, hardened seats. I am very happy with them. Got em off e-bay w/dbl springs& 7* locks, tool steel retainers& PC seals for $550 including shipping a few yrs ago.The 383 has .030 over forged speed pro flat tops, i'm runnin a 224/468 summit cam & have a eddy RPM/750 vac holley still have the stock truck maniflods going into 2 1/2" pipes w/flowmasters dumpin just ahead of the axle, I put the MP conversion ignition pkg. w/ chrome box & MSD blaster coil on it. My timming is 36* total no vac advance hooked up, burnin 93 octane i have never had any detonation problems.
