Default Reading the timming marks on a big block

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone can lend a quick tip. I am trying to set the timming on a 400 bigblock. Am I to read it from bottom to top or top to bottom. I want to set it @ 10 btdc, so would that be the mark below the 0 or tdc line or the mark above it.

I know it is simple, but the last engine I messed around with had the markings a lot clearer.

thanks,

Before means before so it would be the mark below or before "0" or TDC. After TDC would be the mark above. Usually the before side will go to 20 degrees or so, and the after side will stop at 10.

Yes, logic would dictate that you would see a BTDC timing flash on the marks before the 0, looking at the rotation of the damper. Some dampers even say BTDC on the correct side.
