Red line has been in argument here for a long time.

Max RPM is a function of how well the springs can control the valves. Cam profile has alot to do with it as well.

Then theres max piston speed. Generally speaking, they can only move so fast.

Max HP will be reached at a certain RPM. At this point, is the point I consider it the max it should spin. Maybe a few more RPM if it is a race car and holding the shift a few RPM's to better land into the next gear at a more perferable RPM to continue on for a better E.T. maybe OK to do.

The crank material has little to do with max RPM on the street and many race catogories. The cast crank has a strength limit, not so much a RPM limit.

How well the heads flow has a lot to do with max rpm.At some point the air flow stalls or becomes unstable, and on most stock heads it is in the 5500 to fifty something range.

My 340cam'd stock head 318 buzzed to 6100 and shut off like a light switch.
Hyd lifters get queer above 6500 in most cases.
On your question of red line I'll assume your referencing the strength of the crank so cast 6500 or so, 7000 if just for a second [here and there].
Steel 7500-8000 if the oils there.
Didn't u ask this question already?
