Default Head and Piston Combo

Hey Guys,

I have a 440 that I am planning on rebuilding. I am planning on getting the 440source aluminum ready to bolt on head. I would like to get good power on 87 octane. What compression can I see and what piston can get me there for about $500 for the set. I will bore it out .03. Thanks

For about $500 a set?
Get a piston that leaves u around 10.2 or so comp from some one like keith black, look at #KB237 440 pistons, there online.
They are a lot cheaper than $500.
If u want to spend $500 or so look at ross or diamond, mancini sells them.
Really It depends on what cam ur using #1, and #2 application of engine.

I am looking at 440 source heads, 2355 speed pro pistons. Using a linear regression of the reported compression ratios, at 84cc, I will have a 9.8:1 compression ratio.

I am aiming for a street rod. Med Chop. I may take it to the race track just to try it out once. I plan on getting a tremec tko-600 (2.87,1.89,1.28,1,.64) with a rear end ratio TBD (3.9 or 4.1). I would like to get a little larger wheel for my rear end. I was wondering if this would be enough info to make a decision about what cam to build my engine around. I figure rear end ratio would be somewhat flexible due to the wheel/ tire size.

How much of a "plan" do i need to properly plan my engine build around? And do I need more?

Is this a true "street rod" ... small lite-weight car ?

usually a charger is around 4k. I think im going to loose some weight with some aluminum parts, but gain some with a little body reinforcement.
