I am looking at trading up my 1999 5.2 Durango to a 2001. I like the new 4.7 motor, revised interior and seemingly improved suspension and steering.
Any opinions on the 5.2 versus the 4.7, especially reliability ? Has the suspension and steering been revised ? Any signs of a restyled Durango for 2002 ? Thanks. |

I have a 2000 4.7 PT 4x4. I've had it only 3 months so I cannot tell you about reliability. I can tell you the 4.7 is peppy enough to make it fun to drive. The steering is rack and pinion and it is very precise and responsive. The tranny takes a while to get used to because it is the multi-point shifter from Jeep. Overall, it is a very nice SUV. It has done quite well in snow and mud.
