rolleyes2 new problem with charging

motor turns over fine starts good but let it idle for 10or15 mins shut it off and batt seems to be about dead barly turns motor over wont start the car but let it set for 2 or 3 hours the batt seems to be fine cars starts batt just slings motor over

whats heat soak and how can i fix it and the car is hard to start after it sits for a day or so its getting gas and everything is new but coil maybe weak spark ???

i agree with dwc, sounds like a "dragging" starter,might try wramping it with one of the insulating materals to keep some of the heat away from the starter. are you running headers? also might try one of the small light starters.

I'd put a new starter on it if it's heat soak and then shield it like ply6369 suggested.

Check electrolite level in battery, then charge battery overnight.

Default Hard start

What have you recently done to your motor? Are you sure the timing is not advanced?
After you run it for awhile and it turns over slowly, have you tried turning the distributor to see if that allows it to turn over faster?
Have you tried jumping it from another battery to see if the battery is low? I have seen batteries that seem dead-uncharged when HOT and perform normal when cool.

not real sure what the problem was it done it a few times but has not done it again but now it will run and i have the charge discarge gauge in the dash plus a set of gauges the show volts giong thru the fuse box when i first start the car the gauge will go all the way over to charge and the other to 18 volts till you rev the motor a few times the is ok new eveything maybe just got a bad volt reg ????
