This conversion made more sense when Hemi blocks were getting really scarce, not so sure now. 440 bottom end not quite as strong as Hemi and notching pushrod clearance in valley area can get awfully close to water if you're not careful. Longer exhaust rocker always scared me a little, stock one is long enough. Other than that, it's a pretty solid conversion, imho.

The Stage V Engineering Hemi heads, either used as the conversion head or as a race Hemi head are a good design, and was the quickest wya to build a low deck engine.

Larry,
Did anyone ever make a low-deck manifold for the conversion? Side note, how's the altered coming, did you ever find a low-deck blower manifold?

I think you were stuck with a sheet metal intake , or stack fuel injection for the low deck hemi's

Ah, the altered. Well, I moved, had to build a shop for the altered, and get a trailer for it. Right now it's in it's new home, engine is mocked-up, have to profile the mid-plate, fit the saddles for the front plate, make a puke tank, get and install a rear wing, do a little plumbing and wiring, and it should be ready.

The blower intake was just a wish list item, I'm problably going to add a 4.25" crank to the 400 and still run injection.

there are too many Hemi blocks being produced now-a-days to make that a sensible conversion..and for the reasons 23 mentioned, also. Best to start with a real Hemi block..available from Worlds Products and Mopar and a couple other sources.
